Action Ministries History

At 2:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning in December, 1990, Gordon and Pat Berg accepted a call from their Heavenly Father to follow Him. Thus, the birth of Action Ministries Houston. Gordon left his job as a chemical salesman and started collecting food; Pat continued working at her job and did her part in the evenings and on weekends. Now 20 years later they have no regrets, just praise and thanksgiving to a Father who is all-sufficient.

In March of 1998, both Gordon and Pat accepted the calling to become ordained ministers.  Thie ministry continued on growing and caring for people throughout the greater Houston area, Texas, the USA, and the world as a whole.

In 2016 Gordon was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer.  He fought a valiant fight, keeping his obligations to the ministry and God his first priority.  On August 17, 2018, Father God called him home to receive his reward of "Well done thy good and faithful servant."

Pat and her sons, along with a faithful board, worked faithfully to finish 2018 with commitments Gordon had made.  In January, 2019, the board met and, according to the constitution and by-laws of Action Ministries Houston, Inc., elected new officers for the ministry: Gregory W. Berg, President; Mark S. Berg, First Vice President; Timothy S. Berg, 2nd Vice President; Patricia Ann Berg, Secretary/Treasurer.  Board members elected were Philip Alexander III, Sheryl Alexander, Romelia Berg, G.Ed Fitzsimmons, Suzanne Fitzsimmons, M. Ed Hester, Marilyn Hester, Charles C. Jones, Jeanie Jones, John Roberts, Mary Roberts.  The board voted to continue doing the work that Action Ministries is directed to do in Matthew 25:35-40.  In addition, new ways to expand the work of the ministry were discussed and decided on: working in the mission field in conjunction with other ministerial outlets; ministering to widows to name just a couple.  Greg Berg, president, stated: "Dad was always there to help the nations as only Dad could do.  It is now time to continue his work while expanding Action Ministries in a way that will minister to 'Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the uttermost parts of the earth.'"
